At The Village

At Village Care Family Services, Inc., we respect you, the parents and caregivers as the “EXPERTS” when it comes to your child. After all, parents know their child in a way professionals cannot. During service delivery, teachers and therapists combine what they know about child development with the strengths and interests of your child to provide you with the best strategies and resources. Our guidance empowers you with the information that you need to address your child’s area/s of delay and make the greatest impact.

We do this by combining what we know about child development and how to promote it, with what you know about your child; we provide you with information, strategies and resources. Our guidance empowers you with the information that you need to address your child’s area/s of delay. In this way, children have opportunities to perceive their parents as knowledgeable and powerful.

Our Teachers and Therapists

All of our teachers are certified by the State of Pennsylvania and possess a bachelor’s and or master’s degree in education, or a concentration in early childhood development. Our therapists are licensed by the state and are credentialed in their respective fields.

Our Mission

Our mission is to partner with families and communities to positively impact early childhood development.

History And Vision

VCFS was founded in 2000 by Joetta Moran Kersey, a speech-language pathologist, who worked for the School District of Philadelphia. Joetta saw a need for education and support for families with small children in the community she lived and worked in. Her desire became the driving force for our vision: to empower parents and caretakers in their communities and strengthen their connections to resources increasing their child’s ability to learn, grow and thrive throughout the cycles of life.
